1. Boilers - Adding chemicals to boilers is the most commonly used method for preventing scale & corrosion. This practice is hazardous, as the chemicals are toxic & corrosive. Most boilers form scale even with chemical treatment. Magnetically treating boilers will enhance the efficiency of chemicals if the operator chooses to continue their use. Each 1/8" of scale build up will retard heat transfer by 15-20%. Applying magnetic fluid treatment between the pump & the boiler will effectively treat all the water fed into the boiler. Most boilers are plumbed in steel pipe. In this case a 600mm section must be removed and replaced with non-ferrous material such as copper. After installing magnets, scale build up will be prevented and in most cases, existing scale will be removed, over a period of 60-90 days. Consequently the boiler will operate far more efficiently.

2. Heat Exchangers & Cooling Towers - These are used to raise or lower the temperature of water. Water is pumped through a series of tubes inside the heat exchanger or cooling tower. Water is circulated between the outer shell of the heat exchanger and the tubes. The heat transfer takes place as the controller water transfers a temperature change through the tubes into the water inside the shell. Scaling occurs on the tubes inside the heat exchanger. This scaling greatly reduces the efficiency of the heat exchange and then requires shut down and either acid or mechanical cleaning of the exchanger. As with boilers, if the heat exchanger is plumbed with steel, a 600mm section must be replaced with non-ferrous pipe. After installing magnets, new scale will be prevented from forming and existing scale will be removed. Operation will then be more efficient. Increased equipment life should be realized due to reduction or elimination of corrosion.
